To put some figures on those stories about cheating in multiplayer games and virtual worlds, "World of Warcraft", which recently reported that it has exceeded 5 million customers worldwide, has also closed 18,000 accounts over the past three months "for participating in activities that violate the game's Terms of Use."
WoW says: "A majority of these accounts were found to be using third-party programs to farm gold and items."
18,000 out of 5m is 0.36% - not very many, though presumably if they were running farming robots they were producing more activity than other accounts.
cool! dad, will you allow me to cheat my way to riches through the internet?
