According to the People's Daily Online, Hong Kong has just held an avian flu exercise.
220 players from 30 departments and organizations took part.
The scenario involved a Hong Kong resident who developed flu symptoms after visiting a third country.
The exercise tracked that way that:
- the patient was taken to hospital and the diagnosis confirmed
- epidemiological investigation and contact tracing started
- the HK Emergency Preparedness plan for Influenza Pandemic was activated
- the HK Chief Executive called a 'high level steering committee'.
The Chief Executive said later: "After today's experience, we will be able to respond to any outbreak in a more timely and appropriate manner".
